Are You Using Toothpaste To Clean Your Jewelry?

Over the course of time, jewelry items tend to lose their shine and sparkle, and that is when you need to take proper steps to ensure their efficient cleaning.
But, for cleaning you not have to necessarily take it to a fancy jeweler. In fact, there are home ingredients, which are highly potent and successful in providing sufficient cleaning for your jewelryproducts.
We take a look at some of these home-based cleaning methods:
1.    Aluminum Foil
Take a small bowl, line it up with aluminum foil and then fill it with hot water and add 1 table spoon of laundry detergent (bleach-free). Soak your jewelry item for about one minute in the bowl and then rinse well and let it air-dry. This ion exchange process will make your jewelry shining again, like a new one.
2.    BakingSoda
Baking soda is a perfect cleaning agent for silver jewelry item which is starting to show tarnish. Add ¼ cup baking soda powder and 2 table spoons of water to make a paste. Rub the jewelry with a sponge dampened in this paste; then rinse and dry. Avoid this technique for gem-stones or pearls.
3.    Toothpaste
Yes toothpaste is a great cleaning agent for a lot of things, and jewelry is one of them. You can clean your diamond ring easily with toothpaste, putting paste over the toothbrush and then cleaning the jewelry gently with it. This will bring back the sparkle of your ring.
4.    Vinegar
Make a mixture of 2 tablespoon baking soda and ½ cup vinegar, and soak your silver bracelets, rings & other jewelry pieces in this mixture for about 2-3 hours. After this, rinse the items and dry extensively to get sparkling results.
5.    Ammonia
A solution of 1 cup warm water and ½ cup clear ammonia is perfect to enhance beauty of gold and silver jewelry pieces. Soak your jewelry items in the mixture for about 10-15 minutes, and then clean & wipe them with a soft cloth. Let them dry completely and you will get brightened jewelry products.
